Behavior

Menus are lists of navigable links or actions. Links or actions can be grouped and should follow a logical hierarchy.

  • Navigation/links - Takes the user to a specific area of the product

  • Actions - Allows the user to perform specific actions.

  • Selection - Allows users to select objects to perform actions on

Menu items order should follow some sort of logic. Menu Content can be dynamic or static.

Hierarchy

Menu hierarchy can be typically determined by one of the following:

  • Based on usage data
  • Based on processes
  • Related Groups
  • Alpha/numeric order

Used in specific use cases where menu items require hierarchy.
